(varying credit, 2-15 weeks)
Designed for Spanish language students at all levels, beginner to advanced, this course promotes language learning in a meaningful cultural context. Students learn fundamentals of grammar and build vocabulary through listening, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish. Small class size guarantees students will have ample opportunity to practice and use the language. Cuban professors are trained to teach Spanish as a second language and have experience working with international students. In addition to classroom contact, students will have a variety of cultural activities to enhance their learning, such as field trips and participation in festivals or public events. More advanced students will have an opportunity to do projects related to their special interests, such as Cuban history, politics, sports, music and dance, environmental issues, women’s rights, or literature and film. The goal of the class is to develop language proficiency and learn more about Cuba by studying Cuban culture in the target language.
