Support For The Cuban People

SUPPORT FOR THE CUBAN PEOPLE

On June 4, 2019, the US Department of Treasury released regulations designed to restrict travel to Cuba which included general educational travel (known as people-to-people), which included an immediate ban on cruise ships to Cuba from the United States. (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/04/travel/cuba-travel-restrictions-trump.html) Changes to current OFAC and CACR regulations are having a severe economic impact on Cuba’s nascent private economy, entrepreneurs, business owners and non-governmental organizations who have been relying on US visitors for their survival.

Civitas GES has witnessed firsthand the severe devastation the new US regulations are having on the Cuban private sector. Therefore, we are using our extensive knowledge of the private sector in Cuba to create pathways for US citizens and residents to experience Cuba while at the same time, supporting the Cuban people. Led by one of our Civitas GES Global Fellows, each pathway is designed to help you get to Cuba in accordance with the new US regulations. You will be engaged in a full time schedule that supports the Cuban private sector and non-governmental organizations that are working to improve the lives of Cuban citizens.

We are organizing short and intensive experiences in support of the Cuban people through out the year to various provinces. Sign up for one or more of our pathways, select your dates and make a direct impact on lives including your own.
