IMPORTANT DATES

Holguín, situated in eastern Cuba, is an historic city that seamlessly blends history, culture, and natural beauty extending into the pre-Columbian era. Known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, the city boasts a mix of colonial architecture and modern influences. Landmarks like the San Isidoro Cathedral and Calixto García Park showcase Holguín’s historical and vibrant present. The city’s cultural scene thrives through art galleries, theaters, and the lively Romerías de Mayo festival. Surrounded by lush landscapes and with stunning beaches in proximity, Holguín provides a well-rounded experience for delegates seeking a glimpse into Cuba’s past, a taste of its culture, and the beauty of its natural surroundings.

This workshop brings together educational leadership, researchers, and even diplomats to share experiences strengthening bonds and partnerships. International Cuba partnerships are built and grown here. This is your chance to learn from counterparts in your field. You’ll also do it in some of the planet’s most unique settings.

Located in the captivating Province of Holguin, the Hotel Las Brisas stands as a beacon of comfort, offering a truly remarkable experience for WEFLA SECAN attendees. Perched on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, this all-inclusive hotel provides a picturesque backdrop for the conference. Hotel Las Brisas at Guardalavaca is a haven where academia and pleasure seamlessly intertwine, leaving conference participants with lasting memories of a truly extraordinary event.

The lessons you learn will extend far beyond the conference room. Our cultural exchanges will plug you into the community. Participants from different universities in Cuba and around the world make the academic exchange even more enriching as there is a cultural exchange in every moment of the conference. You will also learn from NGO’s trying to make a difference in daily life. Our full-time schedule of activities is designed to make you feel like you’ve lived 6 months in 6 days.
