Softbol Calidad de Vida Week 39 Results

As the season draws to a close, we’d like to give a special recognition to the MVP who has been keeping us all informed of the weekly scores, standing, and stats while also being a player himself. Dr. Gustavo Crespo Sánchez is an Auxiliary Professor and Vice Dean of Research and Postgraduates since 2020 for the Faculty of Engineering at University of Cienfuegos. Prior to being in academia, Professor Crespo dedicated 28 years to being a main specialist in electrical networks and systems at the provincial electric company. He also teaches applied electricity to mechanical engineering.  Professor Crespo joined Proyecto Softbol Calidad de Vida in 2014. He plays first base, catcher, and designated hitter. Professor Crespo has a lifetime batting average of 0.430, an on base slugging percentage of 0.900, and over 200 lifetime RBI’s. Congratulations to all of the players as we near the end of the season.  Now our results for Week 38.

Everyone should study abroad at least once

Drexel University offers several short-term study abroad courses called intensive courses abroad. These ICAs are typically taken during breaks between quarters and are followed by traditional classroom assignments like papers during the usual quarter time frame. One of the more unique opportunities offered by Drexel is the chance to go to Cuba. The United States has had turbulent relations with the island nation since the early 1960s, and travel to the country is still tightly controlled. Several students shared their impressions of the course with me in a series of discussions regarding Cuba and studying abroad.
