Here are just some of the key speakers for the CEEMA workshops and round table discussions:

Marco Antonio Saidel – Full Professor, Department of Engineering of Electric Energy and Automatization. Polytechnical School of the University of São Paulo (USP), Brasil. He develops his academic work in the area of management and efficient use of energy. He teaches several undergraduate and graduate courses. He has coordinated and participated in some research projects jointly with ANEEL, ANP, PETROBRAS, CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL, WORLD BANK, CESP, ELETROPAULO, FINEP, INFRAERO, BNDES, PROCEL, ELETROBRÁS, SABESP, SECRETARY OF ENERGY and some municipal government of the state of São Paulo. Responsible for the coordination of PUREUSP – (Program for the Efficient Use of Energy in USP) and also manages the coordination of GEPEA / EPUSP – Group of Energy of the Department Electric Energy and Automatization at the Polytechnical School of the University of São Paulo.

Dries Haeseldonckx – Lecturer/researcher, KU Leuven, Belgium. Has experience in rational energy use, energy management and life-cycle assessment. He teaches courses related to applied mechanics and thermodynamics, energy and sustainability. He was promoter of more than 60 energy-related theses in cooperation with industry or organizations such as Humasol, where students design low-cost renewable-energy installations and actually build them in developing countries. He has a wide experience in development collaboration, more specifically in Latin America.

Carlo Vandecasteele –
Scientific researcher at Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Leuven, Belgium. Has experience in recycling and energetic valorization of rest streams; thermal treatment of waste and environmental performance and sustainability of industrial activities. Member of the Board of WWF-Belgium, member of the editorial boards of the international journals ‘Clean Technology and Environmental Policy’ and ‘Waste and Biomass Valorization’ Since 1993, member (chairman since 2008) of the ‘Environmental Advisory board’ of KBC Asset management. Three times member and two times chairman of the jury of the ‘Belgian Environmental Award of VBO, The Belgian Federation of Enterprises; Chairman of the jury of the ‘Belgian Business Award for the Environment’, Industry and society, Chairman of the jury in the category ‘process’ of the ‘European Business Awards for the Environment’ of the European Commission, Chairman of ISCOWA, the International Society for the Environmental and Technical Implications of Construction with Alternative Materials, since 2009 Belgian representative and active member of NATO CC-MS (challenges of modern society, later NATO science for peace) ‘Cleaner Products and Processes’. Regularly expert reviewer for foreign National Science Foundations. He was active as a teacher and advisor on research and teaching in several places in the South: Bujumbura, Burundi (ABOS project), Aleppo, Syria (EU project); Cantho, Vietnam (VLIR-IUS project); Santa Clara y Cienfuegos, Cuba (VLIR-IUS project); Eldoret, Kenya (VLIR-IUS project).
