THE CIVITAS GES TEAM
Mr. Moreno’s experience includes program development, administration, conference planning, negotiation and interpretation of legal agreements, Dairo is co-founder of the Workshop of Strategic Alliances for the Internationalization of Higher Education, an annual workshop in Cienfuegos, Cuba (Cuba TIES) the only US-Cuba developed conference dedicated to challenges and best practices in internationalization and partnership in Cuba.
Prior to international education, Mr. Moreno earned his first 10,000 hours advocating for underrepresented and disenfranchised artists, music producers and songwriters. Mr. Moreno has a B.A. from Harvard University.
She has held other roles including being a tour guide and travel agent representative for Cuban tour agency, Havanatur. Prior to Havantur, Herrera Hernandez was a professor at La Universidad de Cienfuegos where she was the Coordinator and Supervisor of the English Language Program. She headed the Discipline of Translation and Interpreting. Professor Herrera Hernandez also specialized in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language, Didactics of Higher Education, Methodology of the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language, Introduction to Translation Theories and Stylistics. She tutored undergraduate students in their final diploma theses in the English Language Program at the University of Cienfuegos. She has been certified by Cambridge University for TESOL (TKT). Herrera Hernandez received the teaching category of Assistant.
Herrera Hernandez graduated with a degree in English from the Higher Pedagogical Institute Conrado Benitez Garcia in Cienfuegos and a master’s degree in the Theory and Practice of the Teaching of English from la Universidad de Cienfuegos. She also graduated as tour guide from the School of Tourism in Cienfuegos.
Dayana Morffi Quintero is a Resident Coordinator for Civitas GES in Cienfuegos. As a coordinator she plays several roles including tour guide and interpreter. She is a contributor the Civitas GES restaurant guide and reports on the results of the Cienfuegos Softball League, Proyecto Softbol Calidad de Vida.
Prior to Civitas GES, Morffi Quintero worked as a tour Guide and travel agency representative for the Cuban Tour agency, Havanatur. As a guide, she worked and coordinated the cruiseline tours visiting Cienfuegos. Prior to Havanatur, she worked as a specialist in Quality Control and Costumer services at the Jagua Hotel in Cienfuegos.
Morffi Quintero has a bachelor’s degree in English Language and French from the University of Cienfuegos. Her main research work was on the influence of Culture in communication, specifically in Communication Styles. She was also trained in Tourism Business Management at the School of Tourism in Cienfuegos, where she researched on the implementation of a Brand applied to the tourist sector.
Dayana Núñez Abreu is a Resident guide and interpreter for Civitas GES in Cienfuegos. A role she played as a student and a professor for the University of Cienfuegos in the two first editions of Cuba TIES.
Prior to Civitas GES, Núñez Abreu worked as a sales promoter and tour guide for the Cuban Tour Agency Cubatur. As a sales promoter she oversaw information sharing and the efforts to attract local and international tourism towards various regional destinations. As a tour guide, Núñez Abreu worked with all the English-speaking ecotourism groups received by Cubatur in Cienfuegos.
Núñez Abreu also worked in the Arts as a Public Relations Officer and specialized docent for the Tomas Terry Theater of Cienfuegos. She welcomed international groups and taught the theater’s history and how it contributes to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Cienfuegos.
Núñez Abreu worked as a Foreign Language professor of the English Department of La Universidad de Cienfuegos and at the Tourism School for culinary arts and housekeeping students.
Núñez Abreu has a bachelor’s degree in English language and French from the University of Cienfuegos. She was also trained as a cruise line Tour Guide by the International Maritime Organization (OMI, by its abbreviation in Spanish) at the Andrés González Line school.
