Chef Jose Luis Alvarez Nevarez is the principal chef of the University del Golfo de California.
Graduated in 1998 as one of the first generation of degrees of the University Claustro de Sor Juana, in Gastronomy, Mexico City, Chef Alvarez received a scholarship from the Principality of Monaco to pursue a degree in Administration and Marketing of hotels, and the art of table. In 2008, Chef Alvarez studied at the Centro Empresarial Gastronomico Hotelero (CEGAHO), for an advanced certification in senior strategic management for food and drink. In 2014, he started his Master Degree in Education and Pedagogy, in the application of modern technology.
Chef Alvarez has taught classes at the University del Claustro de Sor Juana, Universidad Iberoamericana, Carbuse, Arte Culinario Coronado, Ecole de Cuisine Yann Gallon and at Gastronómica International. He has also been involved in the management of the four schools over the last ten years. At Gastronmica International, Chef Alvarez participated in the development and logistical planning of “educación gastronómica online”, Mexico’s first 100% online program in gastronomy for Latin America.
