THE UGC MEXICAN KITCHEN EXPERIENCE

DATES: APRIL 7 – 13, 2019
WHERE: CABO SAN LUCAS, MEXICO

About the Experience

La Universidad del Golfo de California (UGC) and Civitas GES would like to invite you to Cabo San Lucas Mexico to participate in “The Mexican Kitchen Experience”, a workshop for the development of the Mexican culinary arts. This workshop will take place on campus and in the resorts and hotels of Cabo San Lucas.

UGC will be opening its doors twice this semester to host this unique program. The next program will be held from April 7 to 13, 2019.

Professor-Chef José Luis Álvarez Nevárez will lead you on a journey that will connect the culture to the cuisines of six Mexican regions.

You will also get to enjoy and explore the area of Cabo San Lucas and learn first-hand why it is one of the most visited vacation destinations in the world.

Program Objective

At the end of the program, participants will:

  • Know, understand, and relate to six regional Mexican cuisines, as well as their culture, and learn to create a menu for each one of them.
  • Become familiar and learn about the Universidad del Golfo De California
  • Meet with the Department of International Relations and explore potential international programs and collaborations
  • Meet Faculty and Administrators
  • Get to know the International resort town of Cabo San Lucas
Audience

This program is for students, professors, chefs and anyone with an interest to learn the cuisine of six Mexican regions: Yucatán, Oaxaca, Puebla, Estado de Mexico, Baja California Sur and Jalisco.

Methodology

UGC is strongly interested in developing a collaborative relationship with other universities. We invite senior international officers, professors or other administrators with an interest in developing a mutually beneficial relationship.

This 25-hour course will be “theoretical-practical”, where the Professor-Chef will present on each region, its geographical location, culture, and of course its typical cuisine. He will demonstrate the creation of dishes in each region and the participants will have the opportunity to create those same dishes.

Bibliography

Professor-Chef Álvarez will provide a bibliography at each class.
