The Faculties of Social Sciences and Communication & Arts of the University of Holguín, Cuba invite you to participate in the XV International Congress on Foreign Languages, Communication and Culture (WEFLA 2021) and at the XV International Seminar on Canadian Studies: Management of Social and Cultural Diversity in Times of Pandemic (SECAN 2021) to be held in a hybrid format (face-to-face and virtual) from April 26 – 28, 2021.
WEFLA and SECAN are held in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts at Western University, Canada, with the support of the Universities of Trois Rivieres, Ottawa, Sherbrooke, St. Thomas University in Canada, the Faculty of Languages of the Autonomous University of Baja California, Mexico, as well as with the support of the Canadian Embassy in Cuba, Civitas Global Education Services, and TOEFL-iBT.

This year, WEFLA-SECAN 2021 will be held as part of the X International Scientific Convention of the University of Holguín, (CCI-UHO 2021). WEFLA and SECAN seek to encourage international cooperation by providing the opportunity for collaborative learning related to new ways to provide quality education in times of pandemic in the field of language pedagogy, applied linguistics, education, communication and culture, as well as in Canadian Studies.

The Academic Committee invites students, faculty, researchers, administrators and others to submit proposals for papers and virtual posters by March 12th, 2021. The modalities of participation for WEFLA and SECAN will be paper presentation or virtual poster only. All presentations will be done online.
All potential presenters should submit an abstract of no more than 250 words with a title of no more than 15 words. Proposals should be a Word format document, in 10-point Arial font, 1.5 space, with 1 inch margins all-around (2.5cm). All citations should follow APA guidelines.
All potential participants should submit their proposal to WEFLA@CivitasGES.com and complete the registration form below.
For Paper Presenters: Once your paper proposal is approved, the presenter(s) should be prepared to submit a PowerPoint presentation or equivalent. Presenter(s) should also submit an audio recording not to exceed five minutes to accompany the presentation’s main ideas. The audio portion will be used in the event that the presentation needs to be shared asynchronously.
For Virtual Posters: Once your poster proposal is approved, the presenter(s) will be required to record a video not exceeding five minutes presenting the poster. All posters sessions will presented asynchronously.
All presenters will be sent a link to upload their presentations and videos.
PLEASE NOTE: Participants who submitted successful proposals for WEFLA 2020 are automatically approved to present the same work at WEFLA 2021.

Registration Fee for the Event. All registered participants will receive an invoice via Square.com. In the event that it becomes possible to attend in-person, the attendance fee can be applied to the full conference fee.
