VIII INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR PRODUCTION AND ANIMAL HEALTH

Coordinated by the Animal Production Studies Center of the University of Granma, The 8th International Workshop of Production and Animal Health seeks to promote the exchange of research, experiences and results achieved by professionals, producers and technicians in the field of animal production and health (disease prevention, risk assessment, reproduction), their technical, economic, ecological and social sustainability, and strategies for the improvement, conservation, use and characterization of natural resources.

Potential topics for the Workshop will include but not be limited to:

  • Food conservation.
  • Grass, fodder and other plants of interest for livestock. Production of biomass and seeds.
  • Handling and feeding of ruminants and monogastric animals of economic interest.
  • Strategies for the development of animal production using local resources and alternative foods.
  • Animal production systems. Sustainability and efficiency indicators.
  • Composition and quality of milk and meat.
  • Animal welfare.
  • Development and productivity of cattle intended for meat production.
  • Reproduction and genetic improvement of ruminants and non-ruminants.
  • Biotechnological methods applied to animal reproduction.
  • Conservation, development and efficient use of genetic resources.
  • Processes for the production and improvement of the nutritional value of food.
  • Additives, prebiotics and probiotics and nutraceutical diet.
  • Digestive use of food, bioactive compounds and their effect on animal metabolism.
  • Varietal improvement and species assessment.
  • Biodiversity. Soil-plant-animal ratio.
  • Use, conservation and soil fertility.
  • Renovation and recovery of pastures.
  • Biofertilizers and bio stimulants in food production.
  • Environment, mitigation, adaptation and confronting climate change in the agricultural sector.
  • Extension and innovation. Diagnosis, training, technology transfer and impact measurement.
  • Artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, expert systems and decision support, educational computing and automated systems in the agricultural sector.
  • Biostatistics and econometrics applied to agricultural production.

Proposals for all papers and virtual posters are due by July 20, 2021.

All potential participants should complete both the online attendance and proposal forms. All potential presenters should submit an abstract of no more than 200 words with a title of no more than 15 words. Proposals should be a .PDF format document, in 12-point Arial font, 1.5 space, with 1 inch margins all-around (2.5cm). All citations should follow APA guidelines.

Once your paper proposal is approved, the presenter(s) should be prepared to submit a PowerPoint presentation or equivalent. Presenter(s) should also submit a video recording not to exceed five minutes and a maximum size of 25MB with an explanation of the presentation’s main ideas. The video will be used in the event that the presentation needs to be shared asynchronously.
