Deadline Extended – Health Immersion Spanish

Good News! The deadline for the Drexel Community Health Language and Immersion Program has been extended to April 25.

Experience the rich culture and history of Cuba, through the vibrant “Pearl of the South”; in the city of Cienfuegos, located near the southern coast of Cuba. This program is a perfect fit for those interested in improving their Spanish language skills and have a strong interest in global health and community–‐ oriented primary care. Gain practical experience and proficiency in this vital skill used everyday in today’s healthcare setting. Practice Spanish skills in local communities, clinics, and other settings while learning about the full range of universal healthcare service delivery and public health in Cuba.

In addition to learning and practicing health-related Spanish—in a curriculum designed for beginners to intermediate, and advance levels—this international experience will provide participants with a distributed and evaluated learning opportunity in the field, that synthesizes and integrates theory and principles of global health, in a situation that approximates some aspect of professional practice.

In addition to daily Spanish language study, participants will be mentored in daily community health immersion field experiences—witnessing firsthand the integrated approaches to healthcare and public health in Cuba—led collaboratively by CIVITAS Global Education Services, faculty from the University of Cienfuegos, and Drexel University.
