WEFLA 2018: International Conference on Foreign Languages, Communication and Culture

Registration for the XII International Conferences on Foreign Languages, Communication and Culture, WEFLA 2018, is now open! Block off your calendars for the week of April 24th through 28th.

This year, the main objective is to foster international cooperation in the field of foreign language acquisition, communication and cultural issues through the discussion of professional experiences and the presentation of research findings.

Topics are to include but not limited to the following areas:

  • Linguistic Studies
  • Translation and Interpretation
  • Literature
  • Teacher Training and Development
  • Foreign Language Pedagogy
  • Language, Education, and Culture

On top of this year’s WEFLA conference, a full gamut of pre-conference workshops will be conducted the 24th and 25th of April as well as post-conference events starting Monday April 30th through May 4th.

This biennial event on foreign language, culture and communication draws international recognition welcoming delegates from all over the world. In 2018, WEFLA will celebrate 20 years of a comprehensive and engaging conference which works to provide a space where educators can come to reflect, exchange and openly debate on the main topics relating back to the central theme each year.

XII International Seminar on Canadian Studies
The University of Holguin will also be hosting the 12th International Seminar on Canadian Studies in conjunction with WEFLA 2018. This seminar will foster international cooperation by providing an opportunity to examine and share the state-of-the-art research and best practices in the field of Canadian Studies. Topics will include:

  • Cuba-Canada relations
  • Society, Culture and Identity
  • Aboriginal Studies
  • Community Development
  • Gender Studies
  • Language and Literature
  • History and Politics
  • Contemporary Issues

The WEFLA Scientific Committee is currently accepting proposals. Established academics and early-career scholars are encouraged to participate. The deadline for abstracts is February 15, 2018.
